Classic Irish Whiskey

Jim Murray 1997 Prion Books Ltd 255 pages indexed and includes a glossary. Well illustrated in colour.

Yes this is an old edition which I got when it was a new edition and it has been read many times.  A well written, and very well researched, book that influenced me as a whiskey enthusiast.

The book opens with a history  of whisky in general then this evolves more towards specifically Irish whiskey.  This is followed by how whiskey is made. This is not just a diagram and rough outline. It is a detailed and eloquent discussion on the process and the influences leading one to understand that frequently asked question ‘what is the difference between…….?’

What follows is the A-Z of distilleries and whiskies.  This is in a narrative style in which Jim Murray manages to give facts and history balanced against opinion and tasting notes.
